HILL FIGHTS
My name is William L. Myers and I have just completed another book, Marines, Medals and Vietnam.
Included in the book is a chapter entitled Attack on Echo which occurred in early May of 1967 during the Hill Fights and involves Marines from Echo/2/3.
You will recognize the names of many Marines in the story and on the casualty list. Among them are Fred Breeding, Edward Fennell, Robert Foreit, Thomas Gandt, Michael Hoppes, Kenneth Kostendt, Marvin Kraner, Robert Morningstar, Oscar Ramos, Glenn Siemons, Clinton Smith, Woodrow Williams, William Womble, Richard Almeida, John Almoney, Jim Cannon, Al Lyon, James Anderson, George Sternisha, William Downing, Don Hinman, Robert Flannery, John Meuse, Fred Monahan, Lloyd Heath, John Eller, Kurt Edie, Michael Huwel, Bill Alexander, Henry Morgan, Daryl Johnson and many others.
The book is a collection of stories of Marines in combat in Vietnam. It is a softcover edition and is a quality work that sells for $25.00 plus $3.00 for postage and handling. I would prefer to sell the books directly from this address. Payment to me can be check, money order or PayPal (redoubt363@gmail.com). The book is also available on amazon.com. You may want to go there to see what the cover looks like and read what others have to say about Marines, Medals and Vietnam. The book may also be ordered from there.
You may also listen to an interview conducted on the website Stand at Ease about Marines, Medals and Vietnam, at http://standatease.org/node/74. One of the persons conducting the interview is James L. Johnson, Jr., a Marine who earned the Navy Cross during Operation Dewey Canyon in 1969.
I will inscribe each book as you desire. It is my hope that everyone whose name appears in the book will have a chance to read it. This book was written for Marines by a Marine. It is a good one that I am extremely proud of.
My first book, Honor the Warrior, was well received within the Marine Corps community. This one is similarly structured and contains 16 different stories. It also includes a much more comprehensive medals list which includes many Marines and Navy Corpsmen from Echo /2/3. It consists of 392 pages and includes 155 individual photographs of Marines.

Nuclear saber-rattling in North Korea has created international palpitations and some unlikely partnerships in an effort to keep communist loose cannons from causing a war that no one wants and everyone fears. The CIA calls on clandestine contacts in neighboring China to run a dark—and wholly unauthorized—reconnaissance mission over North Korea from a top-secret drone base along the Yalu River. All is well and under international radar until Gunner Shake Davis’ best friend goes missing on a mission near the infamous Chosin Reservoir to check on a tip that the North Koreans are up to something sinister around the infamous Chosin Reservoir. That brings Marine Gunner Shake Davis out of retirement once again to locate his buddy on a risky trek through the snow-blown mountains surrounding the Korean War battle site where an earlier generation of Marines fought a classic withdrawal that became an iconic chapter in military history. While Shake is on his risky mission, the North Korean Supreme Leader suddenly dies and the entire world goes on high alert to see what might happen next in Pyongyang. That puts serious pressure on Shake and his South Korean allies who have discovered—and must deter—a potentially world-shattering North Korean weapon that threatens the very fabric of modern computer-based societies. It’s a high-stakes game and the clock is ticking as an international team of technical experts and military special operators launch a desperate search that culminates in a deadly confrontation in the Korea Straits in the midst of a howling storm. From Officer Racine:
I had been given a mandate by Chief Parkinson to come up with some local police history. I stumbled across the story of Constable Davey’s murder. Curiosity and an emotional connection, I began searching for a picture of John Robert Davey, early on it was obvious, it was not going to be easy. The family that I did find provided clues and neat little stories passed on through generations. JRD’s son, Patrick Francis, was born just 6 days before his father was killed, as such Patrick Francis became my inspiration, to find out what happened to this little boy who grew up without a father.
Knowing that a great many of our Echo Marines have made careers
in Law Enforcement, from the FBI, Marshals, Border Patrol, State,
County, and other agency's. I thought that they would find interest in
this book. The author Thom Racine is a retired officer with many years
in police work. And lives in Cornwall, Ont Canada.
