The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the BRONZE STAR MEDAL to
CORPORAL TERENCE L.KINDLON
UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS
for service as set forth in the following
CITATION:
"For heroic achievement in connection with operations against insurgent communist (Viet Cong) forces in the Republic of Vietnam while serving as a Squad Leader with Company E, Second Battalion, Third Marines, First Marine Division. On 6 February 1968, Company E was conducting a search and destroy operation south of DaNang when the company commander directed that a reconnaissance be made of a tree line 200 meters forward of the unit's position. Unhesitatingly volunteering to lead the patrol, Corporal Kindlon skillfully maneuvered his men toward the suspected enemy position. As the Marines approached the tree line, they suddenly came under a heavy volume of automatic weapons and grenade launcher fire which pinned them down. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, Corporal Kindlon began delivering accurate pistol and grenade launcher fire upon the enemy positions while maneuvering his men toward the company's defensive perimeter. Ignoring the hostile rounds impacting near him, he continuously moved about the hazardous area, directing his men's fire upon the hostile forces. Although painfully wounded in the head, he continued his determined efforts until all members of his unit were in a position of relative safety. Corporal Kindlon's courage, bold initiative and steadfast devotion to duty in the face of extreme personal danger contributed immeasurably to the accomplishment of his unit's mission and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and of the United States Naval Service."
Corporal Kindlon is authorized to wear the Combat "V".
